My Opinion: I think this Amendment was a complete waste of time honestly. After having access to alcohol so long before, people cannot just take it away from a nation. People want what they can't have and this sure enough happened. This Amendment didn't stand a chance from the very beginning in my opinion, but it was a good try.
The "18th" Exploration of the 18th Amendment
My Opinion: This is one of those ideas where if you can't have it then you want it more. After the Amendment went into full swing, crime started to increase. It makes since that small time thugs became rich with the alcohol industry. People knew that this couldn't and wouldn't last long. The government didn't think about the after math and what they would have to do to keep this under control.
Barney staggers past the window of the parlor
My Opinion: This is of course The Simpsons's making fun of the Prohibition Act that led to the 18th Amendment. Obviously people made fun of it then and they make fun of it now. This is just a reminder that people did not think of the consequences of this Amendment before putting it to vote. Something America will never live down.
